Why editors reach for it.

Drop it on the cut and it whips. WHIPLASH is two adjustment-layer titles that whip-pan or crash-zoom the footage underneath, so you get a fast, motion-blurred camera move between any two clips. No keyframes, and no nesting or compound clips. Put Whip 1 at the end of your outgoing clip and Whip 2 at the start of your incoming clip, and the move carries straight through the cut.

Each title is one effect with a full control panel. There's no folder of 40 near-identical presets to dig through: pick a direction from the menu, pick how it moves, and shape the look with sliders.

  • 10 directions in one menu: Pan Right, Left, Up, Down, all four diagonals, plus Zoom In and Zoom Out for crash zooms that carry a speed ramp through the cut.
  • 10 motion curves: Linear, Sine, Quad, Cubic, Quart, Quint, Expo, Circ, Back and Elastic. Go from a smooth glide to a hard snap without a single keyframe.
  • Motion blur that follows the speed: directional blur on pans, radial blur on zooms, heaviest right at the cut, just like a real camera.
  • No black edges, ever: the frame fills with a mirrored copy of your own footage at full resolution, so corners stay covered through pans, rolls and zoom-outs.
  • Camera feel built in: Stretch smears the frame along the move, Zoom Punch pushes in at peak speed, Camera Roll adds a handheld twist, and Impact Shake kicks on landing.
  • Vertical-ready: adapts automatically to 9:16 Reels, TikToks and Shorts as well as 16:9 widescreen, so a vertical whip looks as clean as a horizontal one.
  • Speed is the title's length: trim it shorter for a snap, longer for a sweep. No speed sliders to fight with.
  • Works over anything: it's an adjustment layer, so it affects whatever footage sits under it. Slide it anywhere on your timeline, not just on cuts.

Good questions.

Open the Titles browser and find Whip Pan Transitions. Drag Whip Pan 1 over the last few frames of your outgoing clip and Whip Pan 2 over the first few frames of your incoming clip. Choose a Direction and Curve in the inspector. Trim both titles to set the speed (0.3–0.6 s is the sweet spot).
